On yer bike! Dreams on Wheels continues

On yer bike! Dreams on Wheels continues

Until Saturday 21 March

Your last chance to see the quirky Danish-designed bikes inhabiting the Exhibition Hall here at the Botanics. Pop in to admire the Danes’ commitment to green transport and stylish design. See exhibition details.

Our accompanying series of events celebrating two wheels continues in March. As a one-off, select paths in the Garden will be used from 11am to 1pm on Sundays 1, 8 and 15 March to teach safe cycling to pre-booked groups.

Sustrans Year of the Woman activity day

Sunday 8 March

Men are three times more likely to cycle than women; 75% of women never cycle at all... this day is designed to get women back on their bikes. Open to everyone, with interactive workshops, information and activities for the whole family. Dr Bike will also make an appearance.

Vintage bikes & puncture repair classes

Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March

The Bike Station displays its collection of restored vintage bicycles, with the oldest dating back to 1896. Drop in and get hands-on experience in puncture repair from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Tyres will be provided. Exhibition Hall, 10am – 5pm, free, drop in.

This silent walking meditation will be led by the Edinburgh Sangha of the Community of Interbeing. Before the walk begins there will be a brief introduction to mindful walking. This is not a campaigning event - no banners please. Part of the 2009 Middle East Festival.

Thomas Addyman of Addyman Archaeology, Edinburgh, will speak on recent archaeological researches on early gardens of the National Trust for Scotland (NTS), including The Hermitage. Tea and home baking will follow this lecture.

The hard-hitting images of Mark Edwards, inspired by Bob Dylan's lyrics, come to Dawyck Botanic Garden for the summer. The exhibition, in the form of a massive banner installation, wowed the crowds in Edinburgh in 2007, so be sure to see it.
